Shell Mound: 6,000 Years of Indian CulturesIslands of Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge and down the coastline are dotted with ancient mounds and middens, monuments left by the creative and resourceful people known as the “shell cultures.” Shell Mound is the largest remaining site on the Gulf.
